The Great East Himalayan Wildlife Journey
A grand wildlife odyssey across Northeast India covering five national parks and the Hoolongapar Gibbon Sanctuary. From the rhinos of Kaziranga to the four big cat species of Namdapha, the feral wild horses of Dibru-Saikhowa, and nine of India's fourteen primate species.
This 13-day tour takes you through the best wildlife habitats in Northeast India. Starting from Manas at the Bhutan border and ending in Dibrugarh, you will visit five national parks and the Hoolongapar Gibbon Sanctuary. Expect close encounters with one-horned rhinos, hoolock gibbons, wild elephants, feral horses, river dolphins, and hundreds of bird species. The journey also passes through tribal villages and historic tea country.

01Musafir Jungle Resort
A small resort of seven cottages set right against the Manas forest fence, minutes from the safari gates. Several cottages have private plunge pools, and there are birding decks for the 450-odd species recorded here. Elephants and rhinos are sometimes visible from the property.

02Sonai Nameri
Six tents with attached bathrooms, three of them air-conditioned, on the edge of Nameri at Sonaipam. The Jia Bhoroli river is close by for rafting, and the camp runs nature walks and visits to nearby villages.

03The Kaziranga Heritage
Directly opposite Kaziranga's central Kohora gate. Twenty-eight rooms across heritage bungalows and river-view cottages, built in Assam-type architecture with bamboo wickerwork and local artwork. Its kitchen, Kazi Nemu, cooks Assamese dishes such as khar and masor tenga.

04Wathai Heritage Bungalow
A restored planter's bungalow on Limbuguri Tea Estate, five kilometers from Dibru-Saikhowa. Three rooms named after birds — Minla, Sibia and Yuhina. Estate tea is served on the front verandah, and meals in the dining room by the fireplace.

05Namdapha Jungle Camp
Six cottages of wood, cane and thatch near the sandy banks of the Noa-Dihing river at Miao. Simple rooms with attached bathrooms and hot water. The camp arranges treks into Namdapha, and on clear days the snow line is visible.
