A grand wildlife and cultural odyssey combining five national parks with remote tribal villages across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland. Meet the Apatani of Ziro Valley, the mask-makers of Majuli, and the tattooed Konyak warriors of Mon district.
This 20-day tour is designed for travelers who want both wildlife and tribal culture in one trip. You will track rhinos in Kaziranga, spot gibbons in Hoolongapar, and explore the rainforests of Namdapha. Between the parks, you will stay with the Apatani tribe in Ziro Valley, visit monastery island Majuli, and meet the last tattooed headhunters of the Konyak tribe in Nagaland. A small resort of seven cottages set right against the Manas forest fence, minutes from the safari gates. Several cottages have private plunge pools, and there are birding decks for the 450-odd species recorded here.

03Lempia Ude Homestay
Run by an Apatani family in Lempia, with a traditional fireplace in the rooms and a balcony over the valley. The kitchen cooks local — thukpa, bamboo shoot curry — and the family will teach you to weave a bamboo basket or throw Apatani pottery.

04Niribili Homestay
A family-run homestay on Uttar Kamalabari Road, with balconied rooms and a bamboo-and-thatch cottage around a garden. The lane out runs past paddy fields and bamboo groves toward the river.

05The Kaziranga Heritage
Directly opposite Kaziranga's central Kohora gate. Twenty-eight rooms across heritage bungalows and river-view cottages, built in Assam-type architecture with bamboo wickerwork and local artwork.

06Konyak Tea Retreat
A stone-walled farmhouse standing alone in the middle of the family's tea plantation at Shiyong, about ninety minutes from Mon. Two ensuite bedrooms furnished in cane and wood. Run by Phejin Konyak, great-granddaughter of the tattooed headhunter Ahon, who wrote the book on her people.

A restored planter's bungalow on Limbuguri Tea Estate, five kilometers from Dibru-Saikhowa. Three rooms named after birds — Minla, Sibia and Yuhina. Estate tea on the front verandah, meals by the fireplace.

08Namdapha Jungle Camp
Six cottages of wood, cane and thatch near the sandy banks of the Noa-Dihing river at Miao. Simple rooms with attached bathrooms and hot water. The camp arranges treks into Namdapha.

Bungalow rooms set in the gardens of the Manohari Tea Estate at Lahoal, a short drive from Dibrugarh airport. Standalone chang and RCC bungalows with outdoor seating, a restaurant and a pool.
